One of my favorite things about our dinner club is that we can travel the world without ever leaving the dining room. This month, however, we decided to stay a little closer to home and embark on a Great American Road Trip—exploring iconic foods and flavors from across the United States.
Our guests journeyed from the misty Pacific Northwest to the lobster-lined shores of New England, through the spice and soul of Louisiana, across the plains of Texas and Colorado, and finally ended the evening with a sweet stop in Kentucky.
The evening was filled with laughter, stories, delicious food, and plenty of reasons to start planning our next adventure.
Planning For Rain
As much as we hoped for sunshine, the weather had other plans. We prayed for clear skies and a warm evening, but in the back of our minds, we knew we needed to be realistic. The forecast was not exactly cooperating, so instead of pretending the rain might pass us by, we decided to plan around it.
Since our original vision was to host dinner club outside on the patio, we had to get creative. We set up tents, rearranged the tables, and made sure everything would fit comfortably underneath the covered space. It wasn’t the picture-perfect outdoor dinner we had first imagined, but it still felt cozy, intentional, and a little adventurous — which honestly fit the whole road trip theme perfectly.
Sometimes hosting is less about everything going exactly as planned and more about making it work with what you have. The rain may not have been ideal, but it gave the evening its own kind of charm.

Dinner club has become more than just sharing a meal. It’s a reason to gather, try new recipes, learn about different places, and spend intentional time with friends.
This Great American Road Trip theme reminded us that some of the best adventures happen around a table, one conversation and one course at a time.
