Then I realized no one was coming to save me. It was time to stop waiting and start building a life that felt like my own.
I’m a wife, mom of two grown children, bonus mom, writer, public-safety professional, reseller, volunteer, and lifelong work in progress. More Ahead is where I share what I’m learning about creating a meaningful second chapter—without pretending I have it all figured out.
For most of my life, I didn’t realize I was waiting. I was working full-time, raising children, managing a household, volunteering, and filling every available space with responsibilities.
I told myself I would move forward once I felt financially secure, professionally accomplished, completely prepared, or finally “enough.” But the finish line kept moving.
Then my daughter graduated from college. My son was nearly finished with his own degree. The house became quieter, and I began asking a question I had avoided for years:
Who am I when I am not only taking care of everyone else?
One day, I heard someone say six words that stopped me cold:
“No one is coming to save you.”
It wasn’t harsh. It was freeing. I realized I did not need permission to begin. I did not have to wait until every debt was paid, every fear disappeared, or every plan was perfect.
More Ahead is what happened when I stopped waiting.
You do not need a perfect plan. You only need a place to start—and a reminder that there is still more ahead.
Starting over does not have to mean burning your entire life down. Sometimes it looks like listing one item for sale, inviting a few women to dinner, creating a budget, taking a walk, or finally making space for your own voice.
I’m figuring this out in real time. I’ll share what works, what doesn’t, what I’m learning, and the small practical steps that help life feel a little more hopeful and manageable.
I’m not a guru. I’m a regular woman figuring things out one day at a time from the Pacific Northwest. I write about what works—and what doesn’t—along the way.
My hope is that something here encourages you, gives you a practical next step, or reminds you that your life is not over simply because one season has ended.
The best really can be ahead.
